Jeddah on track to becoming WHO healthy city amongst Vision 2030 goals

The World Health Organization (WHO) concluded an assessment visit to Jeddah which coincided with a three-day health forum held at King Abdulaziz University.

The team evaluated the progress of the city’s healthcare challenges and opportunities, which included implementing 171 activities, 41 qualitative initiatives, and 18 general volunteer opportunities in a bid to obtain the international accreditation certificate provided by the WHO to become one of the global healthy cities.

After recent news reported that officials are focusing their efforts on improving healthcare for women with an objective of minimising mortality rates from illness, the accreditation would be a formal recognition of Middle Eastern efforts to enhance the health of its people.

But this new development is just one of many in the region after dedication to succeeding at the proposed Vision 2030 has been increasingly visible in the Middle East and globally.

Under the guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud, the launch of Vision 2030 was conceived by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to utilise Saudi Arabia‘s location and investment power to create a vibrant society, strong economy and an ambition nation.

Since the launch, several unprecedented reforms in the public sector, the economy, and society as a whole have been noted, such as the development of smart cities, new technological innovation, investment deals and greater global engagement.

Striving to elevate the Kingdom’s position in the global arena, Vision 2030 is a significant goal for the UAE. This also aligns with the forthcoming Security Middle East Conference, which will be tackling the most pressing issues in the sector and bringing innovators and thought leaders together on May 14th to share ideas, best practice and knowledge to advance the security landscape.
