Rapid non-stop scanning tech installed for Abu Dhabi Customs

The General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs has completed a new project that will see its land custom centres in Al Ain city equipped with advanced inspection devices that use artificial intelligence (AI) and rapid non-stop scanning technology to increase efficiency and security.

Two customs centres located on the border of UAE and Oman have been kitted out with seven state-of-the-art x-ray scanning devices, in addition to two central control and operation rooms for the devices.

The installation is the first of its kind in the UAE and brings huge technological advancements to the region. The rapid non-stop scanning technology has a capacity of up to 150 buses, 150 tourist vehicles and 100 trucks in a single hour, helping to speed up border inspections.

The advanced equipment will help to facilitate smooth and fast passage at the Khatm Al Shiklah and Mezyad centres, and help to enhance security at the sites too.

The newly fitted out customs centres are considered one of the strategic projects of Abu Dhabi Customs. His Excellency Mubarak Matar Al Mansoori, Executive Director of the Customs Operations Sector at Abu Dhabi Customs, underlined how the project comes within the framework of Abu Dhabi Customs’ efforts to enhance the inspection system in the various border crossings of Abu Dhabi. It is also in line with its strategic priority of enhancing customs security, to equip customs centres with the latest technologies and devices to meet the requirements of customs operations best practices in order to facilitate the movement of goods and passengers.
