Kuwait Customs introduces two devices for checking luggage and travellers

US company Smiths is responsible for the new devices being used at the Nuwaiseeb border crossing in Kuwait.

The Director General of the General Administration of Customs, Counselor Jamal Al-Jalawi, inaugurated the operation of two modern devices, which possess a high degree of accuracy and ability to detect various means of smuggling. The devices are considered to be world-leading.

The Customs said in a statement released on Wednesday that the technical tests of the two devices were successful and were approved by the project team, the investing company and specialists in the General Administration of Customs. Customs was devoted to providing the best possible security services to protect the country from prohibited items and to maintain customs security – the country’s first line of defence.

One device was deployed to check bags and luggage at the border, while the second is being used to check travellers using the border. Nuwaiseeb border is an important customs port in Kuwait, based on the number of vehicles entering and exiting it.
