21 Aug Etisalat by e& to offer personal cybercrime insurance
In a first for the UAE, Etisalat by e& is set to offer its customers personal cybercrime insurance, according to GulfToday.
Subscribers are to receive SMS text messages inviting them to take up the offer of this insurance, with prices starting from just AED5 per month with an annual policy plan.
While corporate cybercrime policies are better know, this is to be the first time such a product has been offered to individuals for their personal protection. Under the insurance, users will gain annual coverage of up to US$12,000 for month theft, data recovery and cyberbullying. It will also offer protection against online banking or credit card fraud, electronic extortion and losing online purchases.
This month reflects the growing problem within the Middle East of digital crimes, which has extended beyond corporate settings and is now targeting individuals.
