The return of Intersec Saudi Arabia

The return of Intersec Saudi Arabia

After a hugely successful event in 2019, Saudi Arabia’s leading trade fair for security, safety and fire protection is back. Intersec Saudi Arabia will be at Riyadh International Convention & Exhibition Center on the 13-15th September. Security Middle East spoke to Alex Nicholl, Director of Intersec to find out what visitors can expect.

After a three-year hiatus, Intersec Saudi Arabia is back. What can we expect from the show’s fourth edition?

We’re obviously very excited to return to the fold once again, with a sold-out show, 150+ exhibitors from 20+ countries, covering the key product groups of commercial security, information security, perimeter and physical security, homeland security and policing, fire and rescue, and safety and health.

Our three-day Intersec Saudi Arabia Forum 2022 will gather security, safety and fire protection professionals alongside equipment manufacturers, integrators, consultants, services providers, regulatory agencies and government authorities to navigate the future of the Kingdom’s integrated vision for safety, security, prevention and mitigation.

How have you responded to the covid pandemic and what measures will be in place to keep guests safe, following the removal of official covid-safe measures in June?

We will always continue to advocate common sense with regards to appropriate covid safety measures regardless of the lifting of any mandated policies. The wearing of face masks, appropriate social distancing and regular hygiene measures such as hand sanitising are now almost second nature and will be encouraged at all times.

What key industry sectors will be represented at Intersec Saudi Arabia?

All sectors essentially, safety and security is all around us, in everything we do, but in line with the Saudi  Vision 2030 and its 24 key projects supporting the vision, we’re keen to drive the agenda of urban environments, tourism, residential, arts and culture, energy and healthcare.

What are set to be the highlights of the show?

As you’ve stated, it’s been three years since the last Intersec Saudi Arabia, and we know our exhibitors are immensely excited to showcase their latest innovations and developments in Saudi’s security, safety, and fire protection market, that will reach nearly US$1 billion in revenues this year.

Aside from the conference, plenty of new product launches will be displayed in the Kingdom for the first time, targeting key sectors such as energy, healthcare, education, transportation and infrastructure.

What developments, innovations and cutting edge technology will be showcased over the course of the show?

There will be strong emphasis on Vision 2030 Projects, with solutions tailored to urban environments with a particular focus on the tourism, culture, energy, and healthcare sectors.

Saudi Arabia has seen a boom in the cybersecurity sector following more employees working remotely. How will this shift be reflected in the show’s content?

Cybersecurity is definitely a key focus area for the Intersec brand, and our objective is to present those providers of cyber solutions for IP-based systems and networks at enterprise level across all sectors. As technology advances and evolves, so too do risks associated with harmful breaches and costly downtimes of integrated networks. It’s important therefore, IT professionals and system integrators are aware and armed with the latest solutions, of which will be on display at Intersec Saudi Arabia.

Can you share some of the conference content you have planned?

The 4th edition of Intersec Saudi Arabia presents the industry’s most comprehensive showcase to date as it brings together key government leaders, agencies and organisational heads with outstanding world-class speakers, innovative products, technology and solutions across all key sectors.

The programme will involve gathering a Think Tank for regional leaders in the security industry, bringing together stakeholders from government authorities, policy makers, law enforcement, civil defense and private organisations to define the future of security.

Our advisory board of seasoned industry experts have crafted an engaging conference programme, details of which will be released shortly on the show website.

Saudi has announced multiple infrastructure projects backed by the government sector, highlighting strong potential growth for the security industry. How will this impact on the show content and mix of exhibitors?

Safety and security is high on the agenda of Vision 2030 of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and there is a perennial requirement of safety and security products, fire protection and the accompanying innovations that are displayed at Intersec Saudi Arabia.

Exhibitors are aware of the likes of NEOM, Amaala, Red Sea Project, and Qiddiya, and the immense opportunities these provide. They’re accordingly tailoring their stand designs and solutions to target these giga projects specifically and this will only ramp up in intensity every year as each project phase nears completion.
