Qatar named safest place in the world

According to website Numbeo, Qatar is the safest place in the world. Numbeo publishes reports ranking countries’ safety based on the crime rate in relation to the laws of the countries.

Qatar has topped the list for the past five years, taking over from Japan in 2018. Qatar received a crime index of 14.8. In comparison, the most unsafe country in the world was named as Venezuela, which measured 82.6 on the crime index.

Also making the top 10 list was: the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Taiwan, Oman, Hong Kong, Japan and Switzerland.

When looking at the safety record for cities, another Middle Eastern spot came out top. Abu Dhabi was honoured as the safest city in the world, with a crime index rating of 11.2 and a safety index of 88.8. Taking second place in the city lineup, Doha – the capital of Qatar – was given a crime index of 14.5 and a safety index of 85.8.
