Middle East’s largest Information Security training event open for registration

The SANS Institute is aiming to address the region’s technical skills shortage in information security with a new intensive six-week course taking place in Dubai in November .

The event will take place at the Hilton Dubai Jumeirah Resort from November 5th– 17th, with three six-day courses running in the first week and another three six-day courses in the second week.

According to the organisation the workshops will be led by a team of world class instructors from the US and Europe and provides the only opportunity to take these intensive, hands-on SANS cyber security courses in the Middle East.

“Technical skills shortage, particularly in the cyber security arena, is a much discussed topic in Middle East IT industry. As the frequency and sophistication of attacks increases, the ability to mitigate attack will rely more heavily on businesses developing cyber security skillsets within their own organizations,” explained Ned Baltagi, managing director, Middle East & Africa at SANS.

“The courses being offered during SANS Gulf Region 2016 will arm attendees with tools essential to the identification of vulnerabilities, mitigation of threats, and rapid remediation in case of security incident.”

Keeping abreast of current technology trends, SANS will be offering the newly updated course, SEC579: Virtualization and Private Cloud Security, led by senior instructor, Dave Shackleford.

The course helps students understand best practices for configuring and designing virtual security controls and infrastructure. It also teaches how vulnerability assessment and forensic processes can be updated to more accurately detect and manage risks in virtual and cloud environments.

Another course, SEC504: Hacker Tools, Techniques, Exploits and Incident Handling, provides hands-on experience in finding vulnerabilities and discovering intrusions, whilst also equipping students with a comprehensive incident-handling plan. The course addresses the latest cutting-edge, insidious attack vectors as well as less recent attacks that are still prevalent.

Professionals can choose from the following 6 SANS courses:

Week 1, November 5th -10th

SEC401: Security Essentials Bootcamp Style

SEC504: Hacker Tools, Techniques, Exploits and Incident Handling
