Advanced AI spaces: Dubai’s metaverse mall

In 2023, the artificial is taking centre stage, with advancements in artificial intelligence through breakthrough platforms such as ChatGTP.

ChatGPT is the next generation of chatbot, generating eloquent answers to complex questions and delivering informed essay-worthy responses in the process. More recently Google announced the launch of its own AI-powered chatbot, Bard.

MidJourney is a second artificial platform demonstrating the advancements in AI, taking any input given to it and generating an entirely fresh image, that’s never been created before. Art – original – from an AI.

But prompt-response is not the only platform being used to display the evolution of AI.

Cyber-spaces are becoming the norm. Here in the west, the metaverse has caught the attention of investors and c-level decision makers across a multitude of industries, looking to modernise work spaces.

Decentraland and the virtual mall

But this modernisation of space is already ahead in the Middle East. Recently, Dubai has opened a completely artificial virtual shopping centre, housed in Decentraland, one of the world’s most advanced metaverse platforms.

Labelled ‘The Mall of the Metaverse’, the virtual shopping centre contains Carrefour, VOX Cinemas, THAT Concept store, Ghawali and Samsung, among others!

CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Asset Management, the company leading the virtual centre project, stated that it will “surely [be] a huge attraction for customers who crave digital experiences from their most loved brands”.

Dubai has a metaverse strategy that aims to support over 40,000 completely virtual jobs and add $4 billion to its economy in five years.
